Men's Golfers Head To Oklahoma For NCAA Regionals

WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's golf squad, fresh off winning the team title at the Big 12 Championships last month, travel to Stillwater, Okla., to compete Thursday through Saturday in the 2001 NCAA Men's Golf Championships Central Regional.
The Central Regional will be held May 17-19 at the Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater. Karsten Creek is a 7,027-yard par 72 course that opened in 1994. The Bears earned an automatic qualifying bid to the championships as a conference champion, and join 26 other schools participating at the regional. The top 10 teams will advance.
Baylor is competing in its fourth straight NCAA championships, after previous trips to the NCAA regionals under head coach Tim Hobby in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
In addition to Baylor and host Oklahoma State, the field for the 2001 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships Central Regional includes: Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Augusta State, College of Charleston, Colorado, Houston, Jackson State, Kansas, Kent State, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Florida, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Purdue, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Toledo, Tulsa and Wichita State.
The top 10 schools from each of three regions will advance to the championship finals to be held May 30 through June 2 at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
