Baylor Golf Eighth At NCAA Central Regional

Stillwater, Okla. - Baylor stands in eighth place Friday at 18-over par after two rounds of the 2001 NCAA Men's Golf Championships Central Regional at the Karsten Golf Club. The Bears shot 302 Friday, placing them 16 strokes behind tournament leader College of Charleston (+2) and one stroke ahead of both North Carolina (+19) and Augusta State.
The top 10 schools of the 26 competing at the Central Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship finals, to be held May 30 through June 2 at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C. Charleston is followed by Oklahoma (+8) in second place, Kent State (+9) in third and Minnesota (+13) and Texas A&M (+13) tied for fourth. Purdue (+14) and host Oklahoma State (+17) are immediately ahead of Baylor in sixth and seventh, respectively.
Baylor senior Jimmy Walker (-2), who shot a three-under 69 in Thursday's opening round, continued to lead the Bears after firing a 73 on Friday. Walker is tied for fifth individually, two shots behind tournament leader Martin Flores of Oklahoma (-4).
Freshman Adam Meyer (+4, t-32nd) and senior Worth Williams (+14, t-113th) both shot 76 Friday for Baylor , while freshman Jon Antunes (+7, t-66th) and senior Brandon Sanders (+10, t-93rd) both finished with rounds of 77.
The 2001 NCAA Men's Golf Central Regional concludes Saturday morning with round three at the 7,027-yard, par 72 Karsten Creek Golf Club.
