Bear Golfers Among 27 Teams in NCAA Central Regional Field

WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's golf squad will participate in its fourth consecutive NCAA championships next week as one of 27 schools assigned to play in the 2001 NCAA Men's Golf Championships Central Regional in Stillwater, Okla., the NCAA announced Tuesday.
Baylor, which earned an automatic qualifying bid to the championships after winning the Big 12 Conference title last month, has made previous trips to the NCAA regionals under head coach Tim Hobby in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
The Bears will compete May 17-19 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater. In addition to Baylor and host Oklahoma State, the field for the 2001 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships Central Regional includes: Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Augusta State, College of Charleston, Colorado, Houston, Jackson State, Kansas, Kent State, Lamar, Louisiana-Lafayette, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Florida, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Purdue, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Toledo, Tulsa and Wichita State.
The top 10 schools from each of three regions will advance to the championship finals to be held May 30 through June 2 at the Duke University Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
