WACO, Texas - Baylor University has extended the contract of head men's golf coach Tim Hobby, director of athletics Tom Stanton announced Wednesday. As a private institution, Baylor did not release details of the extension.
"Tim's contributions to Baylor golf and the Baylor athletic program have been significant," Stanton said. "He epitomizes the mission, values and character of our university. His leadership skills are evident based on the character and quality of the players he has brought to our men's golf program, yielding consistent NCAA Regional appearances and another Big 12 Conference championship for Baylor University."
Hobby, a graduate and former golf letterman at Baylor, recently completed his fifth year as head coach at his alma mater. Last season he led the Bears to the 2001 Big 12 title and was named the conference coach of the year. Hobby has guided Baylor to four consecutive NCAA regional appearances.
"Tim and (wife) Darcy are at home where they belong at Baylor," Stanton said.
