WACO, Texas - The Baylor Athletic Department held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bill and Roberta Bailey Golf Center at Bear Ridge Golf Course Monday at the course's site, near Highway 84 and Speegleville road in west Waco.
The golf center will house team locker rooms, head coaches offices, a players lounge, team meeting rooms, high-tech video teaching systems, a reception area, patio, indoor practice facility, pro shop and putting and short-game ranges.
The 18-hole course, part of the Villages at Twin Rivers housing development, was designed by Jacobsen-Hardy Golf Course Design, headed up by PGA professionals Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy.
The golf center is named for Waco businessman and insurance mogul Bill Bailey and his wife Roberta. The Baileys were on hand for the groundbreaking, along with President Robert Sloan, athletic director Tom Stanton and golf coaches Tim Hobby and Sylvia Ferdon.
The course and facility are slated for an October opening. For more on the course and center, click here.
