Waco, Texas - After rain dominated Monday's opening of two-a-days, traditional August weather returned to Central Texas Tuesday as the Baylor football team conducted its second day of full-squad workouts with blue skies, intense heat and the approval of Head Coach Kevin Steele.

"We made a lot of improvements in some areas that we need to make vast improvements in - primarily timing and assignments," Steele said. "We hadn't had many mental busts thus far, but we've needed work on our timing and assignments, and we made some improvement there today." Steele was also quick to point out the work of the offense.

"The offense executed very well today. We had some big plays made. (Receivers) Reggie Newhouse and Andra Fuller made some big plays, and I thought (running backs) Jonathan Golden and Chedrick Ricks made some good things happen. (Quarterbacks) Greg Cicero and Josh Zachry both threw the ball very well and very accurately."

Baylor continues to work out in shoulder pads and shorts. The Bears' first day in full pads is Thursday. Baylor opens the 2001 season Sept. 8 at home against Arkansas State.
