KATY, Texas - Baylor sophomore Adam Meyer shot rounds of 71 and 77 Monday to guide the Bears to a share of second place, tied with Missouri and Kansas State at 596, through two rounds at the 2001 Rice Intercollegiate at Meadowbrook Farms in Katy.

The Bears (596) shot 298 in both rounds and trail first place Tennessee (581) by 15 strokes heading into the final round Tuesday.

Three Baylor players stand among the top 15 individuals. Meyer (71-77=148) led all individuals with a first round 71 but followed that with a five-over-par 77 and is currently tied for 10th overall. He joins sophomore Will Doughtie (75-73=148), who also finished four-over-par on the day. Freshman Ryan Baca (75-74=149) finished the day tied for 14th overall.

Vanderbilt (600) is 19 strokes back after Monday's rounds, four strokes behind Baylor. UC-Davis (601) and Rice (601) are currently tied for sixth.

Rounding out the field of 12 are Southwest Texas (602), North Texas (608), Air Force (611) Louisiana-Lafayette (613), and Mississippi (620).

Sophomore Jon Antunes (79-74=153) shot an even-par second round and is tied for 35th place. Junior Jamie McLeary (77-78=155) finished 11over par and is tied for 44th overall.

The Rice Intercollegiate continues Tuesday morning with a third and final round beginning at 8 a.m. CST.
