WACO, Texas - The 21st-ranked Baylor women's tennis team won a tough match against No. 23 TCU in Fort Worth on Tuesday. The outcome of the match came down to the last singles match of the day between TCU's Katrin Gaber and Baylor's Vida Mulec. The Bears, now 4-2, took the win 4-3.

Baylor picked up the doubles point with its wins at Nos. 1 and 2, Katja Kovac/Vida Mulec and Frida Borjeson/Patricia Graf. The Frogs captured the No. 3 win when Katrin Gaber and Karla Mancinas took Daria Potapova and Paola Stephen to the tiebreaker to win the match 9-8 (6).

TCU took the early lead with wins at No. 5 when Rosa Perez defeated Daria Potapova, 6-3, 7-5, and at No. 4 when Saber Pierce topped Frida Borjesson, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

At No. 1 singles, Baylor's Katja Kovac, ranked No. 29, was upset by Paty Aburto, ranked No. 98 by the ITA. The two battled back and forth during the first two sets, but Aburto won the third and took the victory, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Baylor won the next three singles matches at Nos. 2, 3, and 6 to secure the victory.

The Bears will be idle until next week when they host No. 55 SMU on Wed., Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center.
