HEAD COACH GLENN MOORE
Glenn Moore is in his second season as head coach at Baylor, coming to Waco after a stellar three-year tenure at Louisiana State. In his first season at Baylor, Moore led the Lady Bears to a 38-22 overall record and a sixth-place, 7-9 mark in the Big 12 Conference. Along the way, Baylor established school season records for wins, home runs (24), fielding percentage (.963), on base percentage (.329), shutouts (17) and saves (7). The Lady Bears also enjoyed a school-record 11-game winning streak in February. ... While at LSU, Moore amassed a 117-25 (.820) record in two-plus seasons as the head coach. In that time, he led the Tigers to consecutive Southeastern Conference titles and back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Regionals. He was named head coach at LSU just prior to the 1998 Regionals, giving him three NCAA postseason appearances as a head coach. The Tigers went 56-10 in 1999 en route to the SEC regular season title and the conference tournament championship. Last season, the Tigers finished 59-13, one game shy of the College World Series. LSU finished eighth nationally in team batting average (.310) and ninth in team ERA (1.11). ... Moore has a career record of 193-66 (.745), he posted a 22-17 mark in his first year as a collegiate head coach at William Carey in Mississippi.

MOORE NEARING 200 WINS
Baylor head coach Glenn Moore enters Thursday's doubleheader just seven wins shy of his 200th career victory at the collegiate level. Moore, who is 193-66 (.745) in his career, holds a 171-49 record (.777) at the Division I level.

THE STEPHEN F. AUSTIN STATE SERIES
This will be the 34th and 35th meetings between Baylor and Stephen F. Austin State with Baylor holding a slim 17-16 advantage in the all-time series. The Lady Bears have won three straight against the Lady Jacks, including two wins this season. Baylor defeated SFA 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the UTA College Classic two weeks ago, and the Lady Bears downed the Lady Jacks 7-2 last Friday at the Houston Invitational. SFA leads the series 9-7 in Waco.

MOORE vs. STEPHEN F. AUSTIN STATE
Baylor head coach Glenn Moore is 3-0 during his career against Stephen F. Austin State with all three wins coming at Baylor. Along with the Lady Bears' two victories against SFA this season, Baylor also edged the Lady Jacks 2-1 at last season's UTA College Classic.

THE STEPHEN F. AUSTIN LADY JACKS
SFA (3-10) is under the direction of first-year head coach Jennifer Poulsen. This is Poulsen's first year as a collegiate head coach. She is the former head coach of the Akron Pacers of the Women's Professional Softball League.

SFA Notes: The Lady Jacks are led by IF Meryl McGuire, whose .375 batting average is tops on the squad. She is also one of three Lady Jacks with one home run on the season. ... Freshman Traci Moore anchors the SFA pitching staff, the Fort Worth, Texas, native is 2-4 this season with a 6.00 ERA. ... Sophomore Kacie Lancaster is the younger sister of Baylor senior IF Kristen Lancaster.

LAST MEETING ... BAYLOR 7, STEPHEN F. AUSTIN 2 - FEBRUARY 2002
Katie Decker became just the third Baylor pitcher to ever throw a no-hitter as the Lady Bears defeated Stephen F. Austin 7-2 at the Houston Invitational. Decker's no-hitter is the fifth tossed by a Baylor pitcher since the program's re-instatement in 1996. She joins Stacey Allison and Chrystal Smith as the only Lady Bears to have thrown a no-hitter. Allison threw three in her career (1996-1999), including two in 1996. Decker's is Baylor's first since Smith hurled a five-inning no-hitter March 10, 1999 against Butler. However, the game was not an easy one for Decker. SFA built a 2-0 lead thanks to a walk, two Baylor errors and a fielder's choice. The Lady Bears finally answered in the fourth with three unearned runs of their own to take a 3-2 lead. April Luce singled in Sarah Caudle, who was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. After Decker reached on a fielder's choice, Kourtny Westerfeld singled to left, plating Luce and Decker. Baylor opened its lead in the fifth with four runs on four hits. Kristen Lancaster hit her third home run of the season, a two-run shot that plated Caudle. Danelle Arnold and Luce followed with singles, a third straight single by Decker scored Arnold and Luce. Decker walked two and struck out seven, she used just 97 pitches and faced one over the minimum after the second inning. Luce had two of Baylor's seven hits and scored twice. Decker and Westerfeld both had two RBI.

LADY BEARS OFF TO BEST 18-GAME START EVER
At 16-2, Baylor is off to the best 18-game start in the program's history. The Lady Bears opened the season at 7-0, matching the 1997 team for the most consecutive victories to start a season in school history. Baylor is now 35-6 in the month of February under Glenn Moore.

DECKER TOSSES BAYLOR'S FIFTH NO-NO
Sophomore RHP Katie Decker became just the third Lady Bears to ever throw a no-hitter, defeating Stephen F. Austin 7-2 last Friday at the Houston Invitational. Decker, who transferred to Baylor this season after playing at Nebraska as a freshman, joins Stacey Allison (three no-hitters) and Chrystal Smith (one) as the only members of BU's no-hitter club since the program's re-instatement in 1996. This was Baylor's first no-hitter since Smith tossed a five-inning no-no March 10, 1999 against Bradley. SFA scored its two runs on a walk and two Baylor errors.

LAST TIME OUT ... BAYLOR 3-2, NORTHWESTERN STATE 0-1
Cristin Vitek picked up a pair of victories as Baylor swept a doubleheader against Northwestern State, winning 3-0 and 2-1. In the first game, Vitek limited the Lady Demons to just two hits while striking out eight. Lindsay Leftwich, collected both hits off of Vitek. Baylor scored a run in the second inning when Kristen Lancaster singled to shortstop. Lena Keine came in as a pinch runner and advanced to second on Danelle Arnold's sacrifice bunt. Keine moved to third on April Luce's groundout to second and scored on Stacey Hundley's single to left field. Baylor added two more runs in the third inning when Carrie Leerberg led off with a single to right. Kelly Levesque then doubled down the leftfield line, advancing Leerberg to third. Kim Wilmouth reached base on an error and advanced to second on the throw and Leerberg scored from third. Levesque later scored on a Sarah Caudle single up the middle. The Lady Bears collected nine hits in game one, three by Levesque and two by Hundley. Vitek went the distance for Baylor while Crista Miller took the loss for Northwestern State. In the second game, Joni Miller pitched the first five innings for Baylor before yielding to Vitek. Miller allowed five hits and one run while striking out four. Vitek limited the Lady Demons to two hits and struck out three in two innings of work to get her fourth straight victory. Amanda Ortego was the loser for Northwestern State. NSU got on the board first with a run in the top of the first. The Lady Bears countered with a run of their own in the bottom of the stanza. Caudle singled, advanced to second on an error and took third on a wild pitch. She later scored on a throwing error by the second baseman. The Lady Demons threatened in the sixth when Annie Johnston doubled down the line in left and advanced to third on a Baylor throwing error. However, that scoring threat was snuffed when she was picked off third by Arnold. In the bottom of the sixth, Caudle collected her third hit of the game, a single through the right side. She moved to second on Lancaster's sacrifice bunt and scored on Arnold's double down the leftfield line.

LADY BEARS CLAIM 500TH ALL-TIME WIN
Baylor's 2-1 victory over Northwestern State in game two of Monday's doubleheader was the 500th victory in the program's history, including games played from 1974 to 1988. The Lady Bears' program currently has an all-time record of 500-488-3 (.506), meaning Baylor will play its 1,000th game in the nightcap of the Feb. 26 doubleheader against Sam Houston State. Since the program's reinstatement in 1996, the Lady Bears are 204-163 (.556). ... Statistically, Baylor is 409 at bats shy of No. 10,000 since 1996.

LADY BEARS CLAIM THIRD TOURNEY OF SEASON
Baylor claimed at least a share of its third tournament title this season last weekend, sharing the championship of the Houston Invitational with Ohio State. Baylor won the Getterman Classic title outright three weeks ago, and the Lady Bears were quad-champions of the UTA College Classic along with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas-Arlington. In two seasons under Glenn Moore, Baylor has won three in-season tournaments and shared the team title at three others.

A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA
With 26 doubles, six triples and 12 home runs, Baylor has amassed 44 extra-base hits through 18 games this season. Projected over a 66-game schedule, the Lady Bears are on pace for 161 extra-base hits this season. That would shatter the school mark of 92 established in 1999. With 223 total bases through the first 18 games, the Lady Bears are on pace for 818 this season, easily eclipsing the Baylor record of 590 set in 1996.

FIRST-INNING SUCCESS
Through the first 18 games, Baylor has scored 16 first-inning runs this season. The Lady Bears are 8-0 this season when scoring in the first inning.

STUCK IN THE MIDDLE
While first-inning runs lead to Baylor victories, the Lady Bears have been most potent this season in the middle innings - third, fourth and fifth. Baylor is hitting .345 in the middle innings with 55 runs, 13 doubles, seven home runs and 51 RBI. The fourth inning has produced the most runs this season for the Lady Bears (20), while BU has hit seven fourth-inning doubles. As for a pick-to-click inning, third and fifth innings have been the most fruitful as the Lady Bears have hit three homers in each this season.

LANCASTER MATCHES CAREER HOMER TOTAL
Through 18 games this season, senior IF Kristen Lancaster has already matched her career home run total entering this season. The Pflugerville, Texas, native has smashed a team-best four home runs this season, including an eventual game-winning, two-run shot last Saturday against McNeeese State. Lancaster, who did not hit a home run as a freshman, had two long balls as a sophomore and two more last season. With eight homers in her career, she is currently tied for fifth all-time at Baylor.

CAUDLE CLOSING IN ON TRIPLES MARK
With three triples on the season, junior OF Sarah Caudle is tied with Naomi Fitzgerald for second all-time at Baylor with six career triples. She now trails only Lyn Hill (7, 1996-1999) in the career category. Furthermore, Caudle is only one shy of the school mark for three-baggers in a season. Caudle currently ranks in the top 10 on 11 career offensive lists at Baylor.

RECORDS FALL AS BU SLAMS SU
Several records were rewritten last Friday afternoon when Baylor pounded Southern 21-1, however, some of them fell again two days later when the Lady Bears upended the Lady Jaguars 18-1. The 20-run winning margin in the first game is the largest in the program's history. It was also a school record for runs in a season-opener, shattering the previous mark of eight established last season against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Lady Bears tallied a school-record 27 total bases Friday against Southern, that record stood for less than 48 hours as Baylor racked up 38 total bases with a school-record eight extra base hits in the Sunday meeting. The Lady Bears also tied the school record for home runs in a game as SS Stephanie Pomes, C Danelle Arnold and OF Nan Wilkins all went deep.

BIG 12 COACHES TAB BAYLOR SIXTH
Baylor was picked to finished sixth in the Big 12 Conference this season, according to the preseason coaches' poll. The Lady Bears were 38-22 overall last season, finishing sixth in the Big 12 with a 7-9 league mark. Defending champion Nebraska was the overwhelming favorite in the preseason poll, garnering 78 total points and seven of 10 first-place votes. Oklahoma, which claimed the Big 12 Tournament title last year, was picked second with 72 total points and two first-place nods. Texas was third with 65 points and the final first-place selection. Kansas (52 points) was picked fourth, followed by Texas A&M (49), Baylor (42), Oklahoma State (32), Texas Tech (28), Missouri (23) and Iowa State (9).
