WACO, Texas - The Lady Bears open up their Big 12 season against the No. 53 Nebraska Cornhuskers, Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center. The Bears won their Big 12 season opener against Texas Tech, 6-1, last year and defeated Nebraska both times they faced each other with scores of 5-2 and 4-0.
The 53rd-ranked Nebraska's women tennis team defeated Northern Iowa, 7-0 to improve to 7-1 on the season Sunday afternoon at the Woods Tennis Center. They bring with them one ranked player, No. 55 freshman Gitte Osterman.
Baylor was scheduled to play the University of Houston on Feb. 23, but the match was postponed due to cold weather. Before the postponement the women's tennis team defeated No. 48 Arkansas Saturday, Feb. 23, sweeping the doubles point and winning four of the six singles matches. No. 35 Katja Kovac and No. 57 Vida Mulec will pose threats against the Cornhuskers in singles and doubles matches. Kovac is 4-4 in singles, while Mulec extends her winning streak to five and posting an impresssive 7-1 singles record. As a duo, the pair posts a 5-3 spring doubles record.
