Box Score

FRESNO, Calif. - Baylor scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Boston 2-0 here Sunday in final-day action at the Hallowell Classic. However, the Lady Bears dropped the first game of the day, falling 3-2 to Tennessee Tech.

The Lady Bears move to 28-7 on the seasons, finishing their 11-day road trip with a 5-5 mark.

Kim Wilmoth began the top of the eighth on second base as the international tiebreaker rule was put into affect. Kelly Levesque led off with a bunt single that pushed Wilmoth to third, and she advanced to second when no Boston player covered the bag.

A passed ball allowed Wilmoth to score and moved Levesque to third. Levesque then scored on an infield single off the bat of Sarah Caudle.

All-tournament selection Cristin Vitek pitched her second gem of the weekend. The freshman southpaw allowed just three hits and one walk with a career-high 12 strikeouts for her fourth complete-game shutout of the season. Levesque and Wilmoth had two hits each to pace Baylor at the plate.

In the first game, Tennessee Tech scored an unearned run on two hits and a Wilmoth error in the bottom of the first. However, Baylor was quick to answer with two runs in the top of the second. The Lady Bears put together four consecutive two-out singles, only one of which left the infield. Wilmoth had the fourth, a high chopper to the mound that plated Carrie Leerberg. Kelly Levesque then walked to score Nan Wilkins and put Baylor up 2-1.

The Golden Eagles reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third, though, as Amy Goad smashed a two-out, two-run home run to left-center.

Katie Decker (6-1) went the distance for Baylor and was saddled with the loss. She surrendered three runs, two earned, on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Baylor had seven hits, two by Levesque, but the Lady Bears left five runners stranded.

Baylor returns to action Tuesday, hosting No. 21 Texas A&M for a single game at 6 p.m. CST. This will be the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams. The Lady Bears and the Aggies split last season's series.
