Women's Tennis Defeats Nebraska 7-0

WACO, Texas - The No. 21 ranked Baylor women's tennis team won its Big 12 opener over Nebraska, blanking the Huskers 7-0. The match was moved from Waco to the indoor courts in Ennis, Texas due to cold conditions at Baylor's Tennis Center.

The Bears swept through doubles with the only close one being at No. 1 doubles. BU's Katja Kovac and Vida Mulec, ranked No. 29, defeated Nebraska's Gitte Ostermann and Katarina Balan, 9-7. Frida Borjesson and partner Patricia Graf beat Nebraska's Rebecca Harvey and Rose Ketmayura, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles. At the three spot, Daria Potapova and Paola Stephen defeated Amy Frisch and Anna Oehme, 8-3.

Baylor won all six singles matches, five of which were decided in two sets. Senior Frida Borjesson was the Bears' only player to extend her match to three sets. She defeated the Huskers' Amy Frisch, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The victory moves Baylor to 7-2 on the season and 1-0 in Big 12 play, while the Huskers fall to 8-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.

In their next action, the Bears will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii where they will take on Hawaii-Hilo on Tues., March 5 and the University of Hawaii on Thurs., March 7.
