WACO, Texas - The No. 27 Baylor women's tennis team lost its first Big 12 conference match of the season when the 16th-ranked Texas Longhorns defeated the Bears 6-1 at the Penick Allison Tennis Center in Austin. Baylor moves to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in league play while Texas is now 10-4 on the season and 6-0 in Big 12 action.
In singles action, Vida Mulec posted the Bears' lone victory, winning at No. 2 singles. The junior from Maribor, Slovenia defeated Texas' Joanne Masongsong 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. In an extremely hard-fought contest, four of the six singles matches went three sets.
Baylor's Frida Borjesson and Patricia Graf were the lone Bears doubles team to post a victory, winning at No. 2 doubles, 9-7. However, Texas took the other two doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Bears resume action on Friday, March 29 at Kansas State (3 p.m.) and will then face Kansas in Lawrence on Sat., March 30 (1 p.m.).
