Women's Tennis Loses at Texas Tech, 5-2

WACO, Texas - The No. 28 Baylor women's tennis team lost their second straight Big 12 matchup with a 5-2 loss to Texas Tech at Tech's McLeod Tennis Center today. Baylor falls to 16-7 overall and 6-4 in league play, while Texas Tech is now 9-11 and 4-6 in Big 12 action.

Tech started the day by winning the doubles points. The No. 1 tandem of Irina Tereschenko and Beverly Dawson, currently ranked No. 29, defeated Katja Kovac and Daria Potapova 8-1. Frida Borjesson and Patricia Graf posted the Bears' only doubles win with an 8-2 victory over Noel Ruiz and Barbara Schrami at the No. 2 spot. Tech's Alenka Ovin and Kendall Brooks combined to defeat Whitney Morton and Barbora Blahutiakova, 8-4.

In singles, Tech picked up four of the six points. Baylor's Kovac defeated Tereschenko at No. 1, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 and in the No. 5 slot, the Bears' Blahutiakova defeated Ruiz 6-0, 6-4, for Baylor's two wins.

The Bears will close out the regular season on Fri., April 19 when they play at Iowa State at noon.
