Baylor's Antunes Named to Academic All-Big 12

Baylor sophomore Jon Antunes was named to the 2002 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Antunes has competed in seven of the Bears' 10 tournaments this season. He earned his first career top five finish when he finished fifth at the Chenal Trojan Cup in Little Rock, Ark, last month. The academic all-league squad consists of 34 first-team and five second team members. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point-average, while the second team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher and must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible.
Baylor's men's golf team will be in action April 29 and 30 when they compete at the Big 12 Championships in Hutchison, Kan.
