WACO, Texas - The No. 32 Baylor women's tennis team won its 16th match of the season with a 6-1 victory over the visiting Marquette today. The match was moved to the indoor courts at Ennis, Texas because of rain in Waco.
The Bears are now 16-5 on the season while Marquette drops to 4-13 overall.
Baylor won the doubles point when Katja Kovac and Daria Potapova posted an 8-0 victory and Marquette did not field a team at the No. 3 spot. Alison Bradley and Paola Stephen, paired together for the first time this season, lost at No. 2 doubles 9-7.
The Bears took the top four singles matches with Kovac, Patricia Graf, Potapova and Borjesson all posting victories. BU's Paola Stephen lost at No. 5 singles. The Bears gained another point when Marquette did not fill the No. 6 spot.
The Bears resume action on Thurs., April 11 with an important conference matchup when they host Texas A&M at 6 p.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center.
