Baylor Welcomes 21 Football Newcomers

Waco, Texas - Baylor football coach Kevin Steele welcomed 21 newcomers to campus Monday. The Bears fourth-year coach counted 18 scholarship players and three invited walk-ons among his new crop of rookies.
"August is an exciting time for college football," Steele said. "We'll take things slowly the next couple of days to get these guys acclimated to their surroundings.
"At first glance it appears these guys have come into camp in pretty good shape. It's an athletic group who should be exciting to watch over the next few years. We're looking forward to getting them going."
Scholarship players reporting Monday were DB Willie Andrews, DB Anthony Arline, RB Rashad Armstrong, QB Shawn Bell, OL Randy Cornejo, OL Travis Farst, DL Corey Ford, DB Tyson Hampton, WR/RB Lewis Hyman, OL LaQualan McDonald, RB Paul Mosley, P/K Jeremy Parker, OL Jacob Pittman, OL Akeem Rettig, WR Trent Shelton, LB Nathan Uranga, LB James Washington and WR Iris Williams. Invited walk-ons who reported Monday were DE Julian Hill of Katy, WR Justin MacGibbon of China Spring and LB Daniel Sepulveda of Dallas.
Another scholarship newcomer, DB James Todd, was expected to report late Monday.
The new Bears have a full schedule of orientation meetings planned for Tuesday before taking to the practice field Wednesday afternoon. Baylor's veterans report Thursday, with the first day of full-squad practices slated for Saturday.
