WACO, Texas - Baylor junior Amber Daniel, who transferred to Baylor this fall from Temple College, was named first-team Junior College all-America, announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association over the weekend. Daniel is a 2000 graduate of Waco's Vanguard High School.

Last season at Temple, Daniel finished third nationally with 18 home runs, eighth nationally with a .495 batting average and 14th nationally with 61 RBI. She tallied 109 hits on the year with 61 runs scored, 17 doubles, four triples and just 18 strikeouts in 230 at bats.

Daniel's all-America honor simply adds to her already impressive resume. Last season she earned Northern Texas Junior College Player of the Year honors and was selected first-team all-Region V. Daniel also picked up all-conference and academic all-conference accolades last spring.

Baylor softball, coming off the best season in school history at 46-18, opens its 2003 campaign Jan. 31-Feb. 2 with the Getterman Classic.
