Former Bear Jennings wins Larry Doby Award

DENVER, Colo. - Colorado Rockies pitcher Jason Jennings, who outperformed highly paid Mike Hampton and Denny Neagle, has won the Larry Doby Award as rookie of the year.
The award is given by the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to honor Doby, one of the first blacks to play in the major leagues. The award is given each year to the league's outstanding rookie.
Jennings, who won 16 games, earlier won the National League's Rookie of the Year award. He will receive the Larry Doby Award on Feb. 7 at the museum in Kansas City, Mo.
