WACO, Texas - New Baylor women's tennis coach Joey Scrivano's team is ranked No. 43 in the recently released Omni Hotels Preseason ITA Tennis rankings. Senior Vida Mulec is ranked No. 45 as well.

Three position players, Mulec, Barbora Blahutiakova and Daria Potapova, return off last season's 17-8 squad that finished the season ranked No. 41. Mulec, who missed most of last season due to wrist surgery, will be looked upon to provide leadership for the young team. The roster sports three freshmen, two sophomores, two juniors and Mulec, the lone senior.

Baylor has strengthened the roster with the January addition of two players. Zuzana Krchnakova, a freshman, and Anna Moncolova, a junior, bring the roster to eight players. Both student-athletes are from Solvakia.

The Bears will open the spring portion of the 2002-03 season on Sun., Jan. 19 at Vanderbilt. The Commodores are ranked No. 8 in the recently released poll. Match time is 11 a.m. CST.
