WACO, Texas - Baylor cornerback Tyson Hampton has left the football squad, first-year head coach Guy Morriss announced Tuesday. Hampton, a junior from Sacramento, Calif., cited personal reasons for his departure from the program.
Through six games this season, Hampton made 11 tackles, eight solo efforts, with one interception. He led the Bears and ranked ninth in the Big 12 Conference with six passes defended. Hampton tallied 18 tackles, 13 solo efforts, with one stop behind the line last season, his first at Baylor after transferring from American River Junior College in his hometown.
Hampton, who originally signed with the University of Hawai'i out of high school, made three starts at cornerback for the Bears this fall.
