Pitching leaders through five games:
Andy Pape: 0.75 ERA in 12.0 IP, 15 K, 6 BB, 10 H
Trey Taylor: 0.00 ERA in 12 IP, 8 K, 5 BB, 6 H
Abe Woody: 0.00 ERA in 10.0 IP, 12 K, 4 BB, 3 H
Head Coach Steve Smith says:
"Trey Taylor and Abe Woody have pitched extremely well. Neither have allowed many hits or runs (see stats). I think Cody Hall has also been very effective.
"Among the hitters, Tyler Bullock has hit three home runs through nine games. Mike Pankratz has started to swing the bat better, as has Kyle Reynolds. Reynolds has played well at shortstop, and Jared Clements continues to play well at first base. Michael Griffin is playing well at third base.
"Mark McCormick has a much improved breaking ball to go with an already dominating fastball. In the outfield, Mike Heldoorn has shown great improvement and is swinging the bat well, also."
Injury Update:
"Josh Ford is having shoulder surgery on Monday that will require 4-6 months of rehab in order to throw. I expect he will be able to start swinging the bat in 2-3 months and hopefully be in a position to DH this season.
"Sean Walker has a torn ACL in his right knee that he is choosing to rehab. That is going well, and I expect Sean will be fine.
"Jared Theodorakos is proceeding with his throwing program on schedule and doing well.
"Blake Womble is playing his way into shape after having surgery to repair a leg injury back in August. He is getting better each day.
"Drew Sutton has a hand injury that is preventing him from playing right now."
