WACO, Texas - Junior Daria Potapova came up against the tournament's top seeds in both singles and doubles on Sunday at the ITA Southwest Regionals and came out on the short end in both matches. Potapova lost in the round of 16 in singles and, partnered with Stephanie Balzert, lost in the semifinals in doubles. One Baylor player, freshman Iva Mihaylova, is still alive in the second singles consolation bracket. She will play in the semifinals on Monday morning against Daniela Novakova of UT-Arlington.

Potapova won three straight matches before seeing her run in the tournament end in the round of 16. She lost to the tournament's top seed, Julie Smekodub of Tulane, 6-2, 6-3. Smekodub is currently ranked 23rd nationally. Potapova and Balzert advanced to the semifinals in doubles by defeating Tulane's Maria Ivanova and Nancy Kockoff, 8-3. The Baylor duo was knocked out of the tournament when 39th-ranked and the tournament's top seeded team of Rocio Fantilli and Lauren Seaman of LSU beat them, 8-6.
