WACO, Texas - Postseason honors continue to accumulate for Baylor football players as Rashad Armstrong, Daniel Sepulveda and Robert Quiroga each gained recognition Tuesday.

Sepulveda was selected first-team all-Big 12 Conference by College Football News; the publication also listed the freshman punter as the conference's third-best kicker (punters and place kickers). Armstrong, a senior running back, was selected as Baylor's player of the year by the publication. Quiroga earned second-team honors as a utility player on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's all-Big 12 team.

In his first season as a punter, Sepulveda finished third in the Big 12 with 43.1 yards per punt. A graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas, Sepulveda established school records for punting yards (3,750) and punts of 50-plus yards (25). However, his greatest attribute was the impact he made on Baylor's special teams, which ranked 117th nationally out of 117 teams in 2002 with a net punting average of 26.6 yards.

Armstrong, who transferred to Baylor from Mesa [Ariz.] last season, became Baylor's sixth 1,000-yard rusher, gaining 1,074 yards on the season with six touchdowns. He ranked fifth in the Big 12 and 40th nationally in rushing yards per game, and Armstrong had four 100-yard games on the season.

Quiroga was valuable to the Bears both as a wide receiver and on special teams. The San Antonio-Holmes product led Baylor with 42 receptions for 490 yards and four touchdowns. He began returning kick offs in the season's ninth game and averaged 31.4 yards per return, second in school history. Quiroga became the second player in Big 12 history with two kickoff returns for touchdown, going 98 yards against Kansas State and 100 yards against Texas Tech. He also made 11 tackles and forced two fumbles as a bullet on Baylor's punt coverage team.
