In his first season at Baylor, Moore led the Lady Bears to a 38-22 overall record and a sixth-place, 7-9 mark in the Big 12 Conference. Last season, he guided the Lady Bears to even greater successes with more than 50 team and individual, single-game and single-season school records. Baylor finished 46-18 overall and 10-8 in the Big 12 Conference, establishing school marks for victories in a season, conference victories in a season and highest conference finish (fourth). Moore also led Baylor to a national ranking for the second straight season and two wins over top 10 teams, as many top-10 victories as the Lady Bears had amassed in the previous 16 seasons of the program's existence. Moore has a career record of 232-88 (.725); he posted a 22-17 mark in his first year as a collegiate head coach at William Carey in Mississippi. Moore is 210-69 (.753) at the Division I level.

LAST MEETING ... BAYLOR 2, UT-ARLINGTON 1 - FEB. 2
A sacrifice fly and three wild pitches gave Baylor a 2-1 victory over Texas-Arlington in the final game of the Getterman Classic. Falon Kwasnick led of the bottom of the first for UTA, playing as the home team, with a double to left. After a sacrifice bunt pushed her to third, Kwasnick raced home on a wild pitch. That lead held for the Lady Mavs until the sixth when Sarah Caudle led off with a single up the middle and moved to second on a wild pitch. A Danelle Arnold sacrifice bunt advanced Caudle to third, and Amber Daniel scored her with a sacrifice fly to left-center. Katie Decker started for Baylor and allowed one run on four hits with three walks and a strikeout. Cristin Vitek entered the game with two outs and runners on second and third in the sixth. She recorded the next four outs in order to close the game.
LAST TIME OUT ... LOUISIANA-MONROE 5, BAYLOR 2 - FEB. 16
Baylor fell behind early and could never rally to take the lead, falling to Louisiana-Monroe 5-2 in the final game of the Mardi Gras Classic. Casey Goodman put the Lady Indians on the board with a two-run, two-out home run to left. ULM added another run in the bottom of the second thanks on a Leslie Venissat two-out RBI single. The Lady Bears pulled to within one run thanks to a two-run third. After a Sarah Caudle run-scoring fielder's choice, Kelly Osburn scored by way of a ULM throwing error. Baylor had a golden opportunity to take the lead in the fifth, but the Lady Bears could push a run home with the bases loaded and one out. That proved costly as the Lady Indians scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning to put the game away. Cristin Vitek went the distance for Baylor against Louisiana-Monroe. She was touched for five runs on eight hits with an uncharacteristic four walks and only two strikeouts.
WALK THIS WAY
Freshman OF/1B Kelly Osburn has made quite an impression in her first two weeks as a collegiate athlete. She is second among regular starters with a .440 batting average and eight RBI. Osburn also leads the team in stolen bases (8) and is tied for the team lead with two homers. However, most eye-catching is her walk total, which is already at 18. Osburn has nearly half of Baylor's 38 walks as a team and three times as many as second-place walker Danelle Arnold (6). A Missouri City, Texas, native, Osburn already ranks sixth all-time at Baylor for walks in a season, and her per-game average is 1.20.
SCHWETHELM ASLO STARTING FAST
OF/SS Harmony Schwethelm is also enjoying a fast start to her collegiate career. The San Antonio, Texas, native leads the Lady Bears with a .458 batting average, and she has hit safely in nine of the 10 games in which she has made at least one plate appearance. Schwethelm is second on the team in stolen bases with six swipes in seven tries.

Nebraska was the coaches' preseason favorite; the Huskers received five of nine first-place votes and 77 total points. Texas and Oklahoma received two first-place votes each. The Lady Bears are 60-25 (.706) in the stadium's five-year existence.

Six of the eight largest crowds and eight of the 10 largest crowds in the stadium's four-year history came last season. Baylor finished 13th nationally in total attendance for 2002 and 20th nationally in per-game attendance.
BAYLOR JUST OUT OF NFCA TOP 25
Baylor just missed a preseason ranking as the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Preseason Top 25 was released Wednesday by the sport's governing body. UCLA received 18 of 22 first-place votes and was the coaches' pick as the preseason favorite. Fellow Pac-10 powers Arizona and defending national champion California follow in that order with the Wildcats and the Golden Bears earning two first-place nods each. Nebraska and Michigan tied for the fourth spot. Washington, Louisiana State, Oklahoma, Florida State and Cal State Fullerton rounded out the top 10 in that order.
