LAFAYETTE, La. - Sophomore Ryan Baca carded a 1-under par 71 in the final round of the Louisiana Classics today. He finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 5-under 211 (70-70-71).
Baca tied with Texas A&M's Stephen Reed (68-70-73). The duo finished three strokes behind David Inglis of Tulsa (70-67-71).
The Bears carded a final round team total of 3-under par 285 to finish the tournament with an 874. After being tied for ninth at the end of two rounds, Baylor improved to a tie for fourth. Texas Tech also turned in an 874. At 6-under for the tournament, SMU took the team title with a three-round 858 at the 7,002-yard, par 72 Oakbourne Country Club course. Tulsa (861) finished second followed by Texas A&M (868).
Freshman Will McDonald fired a 2-under par 70 in the final round to move into the top-20. He tied for 17th with a tournament total of 3-over 217 (72-75-70). Senior Trevar Matheson carded an even-par final round to tie for 48th (79-74-72). Junior Will Doughtie totaled a 227 (77-73-77) to tie for 56th. Junior Jon Antunes carded Baylor's fourth score of par or better for the day (78-78-72=228) to tie for 61st.
The Bears will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, March 17-18 when they travel down the road for the Morris Williams Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Texas.
