TOURNAMENT

  • Baylor and Kansas State have met twice in the Big 12 Tournament before tonight. Kansas State defeated Baylor 75-66 in overtime in the first round in 1998 and Baylor defeated Kansas State 60-44 in the first round of the 2001 tournament.

KANSAS STATE

  • The Wildcats put up 30 shots in the first half, with over half of them (15) coming from behind the three-point arch. Kansas State finished the first period shooting 11-30 overall and 5-15 from three-point range.
  • At halftime, Kansas State had turned six Baylor turnovers into seven points to lead 7-0 in the points-off-of-turnovers category.
  • By holding Baylor to only 18 points in the first half, it marked the 12th time the Wildcats have held an opponent under 20 points in a single half.
  • Junior center Nicole Ohlde scored 14 points, which marked the 34th consecutive game she has broke into double digits. The last time she did not crack the 10-point barrier was in last season's Big 12 Tournament semifinals loss to Oklahoma on March 7, 2002, when she scored eight points against the Sooners.
  • Sophomore Kendra Wecker has scored at least 10 points in 44 consecutive games. Wecker has missed scoring in double digits only four times in her collegiate career.
  • Kansas State starters combined to score 66 of the Wildcats 77 points.
  • Sophomore Laurie Koehn moves into second place in the tournament's records for three-point field goals made with six and attempted with 12. She is second only to Texas Tech's Renee Hanebutt who made seven three-point field goals on 13 attempts in the 1998 tournament.

BAYLOR

  • Despite out rebounding the Wildcats by a margin of 27-23 in the first half, the Bears went to the locker room trailing 34-18. Baylor outscored Kansas State 10-2 in second chance points in the first half.
  • By connecting on only eight of 40 field goal attempts in the first half, the Bears went into half time with a dismal .200 shooting percentage.
  • By scoring only 18 points in the first half, the Bears set a new season low for points in a half. The previous low had been 22, which they had accomplished three other times, the last time being at Oklahoma State on Feb. 19, 2003.
  • Baylor enters the game averaging 62 field goal attempts a game.
  • Sophomore Steffanie Blackmon score 21 points to lead the Bears, this marks the 12th time she has gone over 20 points this season.
  • By attempting 91 shots Baylor now holds the Big 12 Tournament record for field goals attempted, shattering the mark of 79 field-goal attempts set by the Bears in a first round overtime lost to Kansas State during the 1998 tournament.
  • Steffanie Blackmon set a new career high for rebounds with 15; her previous high had been 12 against North Texas on Nov. 16, 2001. The 15 boards also place her second all time in the second round of the Big 12 tournament.
  • The .253 shooting percentage by Baylor is lowest ever recorded in the second round of the tournament.
  • Both Sophia Young and Steffanie Blackmon register double-doubles for the Bears. It was Young's 14th of the season and Blackmon's 10th.
  • Baylor registered its second most rebounds this season.
