Waco, Texas - Baylor begins four weeks of spring football practice Wednesday, its first drills under the direction of new coach Guy Morriss.
The Bears will practice a total of 15 times - every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, along with assorted Thursday and Friday workouts, leading up to the April 12 Green-Gold Spring Game. Weekday workouts begin at 3 p.m. and Saturday drills are at 10 a.m. All practices are open to the public.
"We are excited," Morriss said. "I know all the coaches were buzzing last night and today about getting out and getting started and finding out what we have. You can only do so much drill work and all that sort of stuff. And then you've got to put on the pads.
"Everybody's got to earn a job. And we're pretty much that way every year. I really believe in competing for a job. I believe it brings out the best in athletes. And it's something I went through in the NFL. There is no job security on the football field."
Workouts are scheduled for Mar. 19, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, April 2,4, 5, 7, 9 and 10. The Green-Gold Spring Game will be at 1 p.m. on April 12.
