Waco, Texas - The women's tennis team lost its first Big 12 match of the season, 4-3, to Texas, despite winning the doubles point for the third week in a row. The Lady Bears, now have a 4-1 record in the Big 12.

In doubles play Anna Moncolova and Vida Mulec quickly defeated Lindsay Blau and Kelly Baritot in the No. 2 spot, 8-4. In the No. 1 spot Kendra Strohm and Ziva Grasic of Texas defeated Alison Bradley and Daria Potapova, 8-4. In the No. 3 spot Baylor's undefeated duo of Stephanie Balzert and Izabela Mijic overcame Michelle Krinke and Macey Breece 9-7.

In singles action, Texas got off to a hot start with wins at the No. 5 and 3 spots. Ziva Grasic defeated Izabela Mijic 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 3 Stephanie Balzert lost to Kelly Baritot 6-3, 6-4. Baylor tied the match up with Daria Potapova's win over Lindsay Blau 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot. Potapova has won her last 11 of 12 matches. Vida Mulec was also able to win for the Bears at the No. 2 spot with a win over Michelle Krinke 6-3, 6-4. In the No. 6 position, Macey Breece defeated Zuzana Krchnakova 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, while in the No. 1 spot, #52 Kendra Strohm held off a late attack from Anna Moncolova , 2-6, 7-6, 7-5, In order to claim the win.

Action for the Bears will continue on Saturday, Mar. 22 in Oxford, Miss. at 12 p.m.
