#40 Baylor (8-9,6-1) vs. #26 Tulane (13-3) Sat. Apr. 5, 2003 - 2:00 p.m. Baylor Tennis Center
The Bears take on the #26 Tulane Green Wave in their final home game of the season on Saturday at the Baylor Tennis Center. The Bear's have compiled a 5-5 record while playing at home this season.
With Baylor's victory against the Aggies on Wednesday, they ended a three-game losing streak that dated back to their loss to Illinois on March 16. The Bear's returned home on Saturday to defeat the Kansas Jayhawks, 6-1, and move into a first place tie with the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 standings.
In singles play this week, Daria Potapova has extended her winning streak to nine matches after defeating Emily Haylock of Kansas 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 4 spot. Potapova has now won 13 of her last 14 matches. Vida Mulec is starting to come on strong by winning three of her last four matches after only winning three of 11 earlier in the season. Barbora Blahutiakova has come back solid after taking a two game absence due to illness. Since Blahutiakova has returned she has won her last two matches. Anna Moncolova ended her six-game winning streak on Saturday when she defeated Courtney Steinbock of Kansas 6-2, 6-7, 1-0.
In doubles action, the duo of Balzert and Mijic got back into their winning ways when they defeated Skoda/Lorenz from Kansas 8-6. Vida Mulec also moved into third place in all-time career doubles wins when she and Anna Moncolova defeated Brown/Steinbock 9-7.
