WACO, Texas - Baylor head coach Glenn Moore announced Sunday the hiring of Britni Sneed as the program's pitching coach. Sneed replaces assistant coach Mary Ann Jennings, who left the program earlier this month to pursue other career opportunities.

Sneed comes to Baylor from Louisiana State, where she served as a student assistant this past season. She was a three-time all-America pitcher at LSU while Moore was the Tigers' head coach. Sneed was also named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2002 after going 34-7 with a 0.75 ERA and 478 strikeouts in 281.0 innings. She earned Louisiana player of the year and SEC all-tournament honors twice.

"We are privileged to have Britni join our staff," Moore said. "She was a tremendous pitcher for me at LSU, and she definitely knows the art of pitching. Her experience on the national level will be beneficial in recruiting, and she works well with pitchers. Britni is a great fit for Baylor University."

Sneed established LSU and SEC single-season records for strikeouts in a season in each of her final three seasons with the Tigers. She ranked second nationally in strikeouts per game as a senior, and her career strikeout total of 1,370 ranks second in NCAA history.

A native of Houston, Texas, Sneed was a High School all-American at Cypress Fairbanks High School. She holds SEC career records for wins (120), ERA (0.89), opponents' batting average (.147), shutouts (55), strikeouts and strikeouts per seven innings (9.82).
