WACO, Texas - Windy but still warm conditions greeted Baylor's football team for the first two-session day of preseason drills here Monday. After triple-digit temperature last week, Monday's weather conditions seemed almost mild. However, head coach Guy Morriss decided to limit the afternoon session to 90 minutes rather than go the customary two hours.
"It was really muggy in the morning session," Morriss said. "We had some guys cramping up and some guys have lost some weight. This was just a precautionary measure. There's no need for us to go at it too hard right now."
Morriss said the team handled its first two-session practice day of the 2003 season well. The team returns to a one-session day Tuesday, followed by another two-session day Wednesday. All practices are open to the public.
The 2003 season begins Aug. 30 as the Bears host UAB at Floyd Casey Stadium.
