WACO, Texas - Baylor's football team shed the pads and worked in jerseys, shorts and helmets here Sunday in the 12th day of preseason drills. Head coach Guy Morriss continues to be happy with the team's progression.

"I think we're on schedule," Morriss said. "We were very pleased with the effort we got in Saturday's scrimmage. Offensively we now need to strive to be a little more consistent. We've got some things we need to work on and improve. This will be a big week for us. I think if our kids will stay focused, keep pushing and start taking care of details, I think we're going to be OK."

The players moved out of Martin dormitory Saturday, and Morriss said it did make him a little nervous to see the team scatter.

"At some point you have to trust them to do the right thing when we turn them loose," Morriss said. "They just have to understand that camp is not over. We have a lot of work to do yet. We have to stay focused on our job and that's getting ready for UAB."

Baylor hits the practice field twice Monday with sessions in the morning and afternoon. All practices are open to the public.

The 2003 season begins Aug. 30 as the Bears host UAB at Floyd Casey Stadium.
