WACO, Texas - Members of the Baylor football team visited Hewitt Elementary Saturday as the school organized a carnival to raise money for a new playground.
The players signed autographs, played with the children, answered questions and spoke about football and Baylor University.
"It is great to so see so many football players here," said Kurt Krakowian, the carnival coordinator. "These kids are really enjoying this."
Shirley Blanton, mayor of Hewitt, welcomed the crowd and thanked the Bears for their support and attendance at the carnival. Hewitt Elementary principal Sarah Holland expressed her appreciation to all the loyal parents who helped with the fundraising efforts.
The carnival featured a silent auction, inflatable games, a live DJ, and many other games sponsored by different classes of the school.
Justin Crooks, a junior linebacker from Austin, said he had a lot of fun hanging out with the kids.
"I hope we helped them raise enough money," he said.
