Losing a tough game is never easy to swallow. Getting beat by a team that we expected to beat is not something that is to be taken lightly, either. Missouri is a team that will probably win the Big 12's North Division and is likely bowl-bound as well. As a team, we felt that going into the game we should come out on top. We were on national television and had not a lot to lose, beside the game, and a lot to gain. We were presented with a huge opportunity to show the United States what kind of football that we were capable of being.
To start off the game we were immediately faced with huge obstacles and sudden change plays. The defense was right away put with our backs against the wall and forced to step up. Missouri had several chances to score touchdowns, but the defense held it to two field goals and another one that was missed.
All in all I was proud of the way that we played. The reason that is, is that we never gave up. A team in the past would have thrown in the towel long before the game's final seconds ticked off the clock.
This was definitely a game that we can build upon and go into the rest of the Big 12 season with a tough attitude and expectation to win more games. We'll face an angry Nebraska team this week in a hostile atmosphere. We're going to get back to work, prepare well, and give it our best shot Saturday afternoon. The goals we set at the start of the season can still be reached.
Thank you for you continued support of our football program, and to those who came to our game on Saturday and stayed behind us long into the night, thank you very much. It means so much to all of us that you were in the stands.
Hope to see ya'll in two weeks when we take on Iowa State at Floyd Casey.
Sic `em Bears,
Justin
