Softball Closes Fall Season in Houston

WACO, Texas-The Baylor softball team concludes the fall season this weekend as the Lady Bears travel to Houston, Texas, for a pair of games with Blinn College before participating in the Spring Klein Tournament at the University of Houston.
The Lady Bears will open the weekend with a doubleheader against Blinn, beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15.
On Saturday, Oct. 16, Baylor will open play in the Spring Klein Tournament, facing UL-Lafayette at 11:00 a.m. before meeting Southern Mississippi at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Bears conclude play at the tournament on Sunday, Oct. 17, when Baylor faces Texas State at 9:00 a.m. before meeting Houston at 1:00 p.m.
Baylor opened the fall season with an impressive showing at the Baylor Fall Tournament. The Lady Bears went 7-0 throughout the tournament and allowed only one earned run on the weekend, outscoring the opposition 46-2 along the way.
Several Lady Bears had impressive showings at the tournament, including returning starter Stephanie Pomes, who blasted two home runs on the weekend.
April Luce also had a strong showing for the Lady Bears, collecting eight hits while scoring three runs with four RBI. Tessa Lynam, who is returning to the line-up after a back injury sidelined her for most of last season, collected five hits, including two doubles, on the weekend.
Baylor newcomers Sarah Hausner and Nicole Jackson had impressive debuts in the circle for the Lady Bears, holding the opposition scoreless throughout the tournament.
Following the close of the fall season, the Lady Bears will return to action to open the 2005 regular season when the Lady Bears host the Getterman Classic. The tournament opens for Baylor when the Lady Bears meet Louisiana-Monroe at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, at Getterman Stadium.
