The week before the Tech game we had a pretty good week of practice. We had a better attitude and a better feeling coming into practice partly because of the win against A&M. We had a lot of confidence as a team because we knew that we could beat a ranked opponent. Whenever we play the way that we are supposed to play and the way we are capable of playing, we can beat a lot of good teams.
We started off the Tech game with huge momentum. Our offense got the ball first and went down and scored on three plays and our defense went out and shut down the potent Raider offense to a three and out. As a whole we pretty much dominated the first half. For the majority of the first half it was 10-7 with no signs of that changing. But right before halftime, Tech got a last second score to go into the half with a 14-10 lead.
We knew that if we could put together the second half like we did the first, we felt like we could win the game. But, we just came out way too flat to have a chance to win the game. The defense did not play stout enough, our offense did not score any points until the end of the game, but our special teams play was not too bad.
But this is another week and we face a new challenge. We travel up to Oklahoma State to face a good football team. Our offense, defense, and special teams must win their phases of the game to beat this team. There is no doubt in my mind that we can play with this team, but we just have to go out and do it.
I look forward to these next two games because they are huge opportunities for our program and for us to end this season on a positive note and gain momentum for next years' team.
As always, thank you for your support.
Sic `em Bears,
Justin
