Men's Golf Takes Title in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, P.R. - The Baylor men's golf team captured the team title by nine strokes at the Hyatt/Puerto Rico Intercollegiate Tuesday at the 6,980-yard, par-72 Dorado Beach Golf Club. The win marks the first team title for first-year head coach Greg Priest.
Baylor was lead by junior Ryan Baca (73-71-73=217) who finished tied for seventh and freshman Jeremy Alcorn (78-69-71=218), who fired a one-under par 71 in the final round to finish tied for 10th. This was Baca's seventh straight top-25 finish of the year.
Also helping in the victory was senior Jon Antunes (74-70-75=219) and freshman Jeremy Frye (73-82-70=225), who shot a closing round of two-under par 70 and finished tied for 16th. Sophomore Will Doughtie (84-74-72=230) steadily improved throughout the tournament and closed with a final-round, even-par 72 to finish tied for 26th. Sophomore Will McDonald (72-74-72=218) competed as an individual and finished tied for 10th as well.
Baylor (868) concluded the tournament with a nine stroke victory over second place Kentucky (877). Tournament host Georgia State (878), Southern Mississippi (886) and Georgia Southern (890) rounded out the rest of the top-5 teams. Georgia State's Caspar Jorgensen (72-68-70=210) took individual medalist honors by one stroke over Southern Miss' Matt Wofford (69-73-69=211).
Baylor will return to action March 15-16 at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate hosted by The University of Texas at Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas.
