WACO, Texas - Freshman Carolin Walter was eliminated from the singles portion of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships, held at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Ga., in a three-set tiebreaker loss.

Walter, the first Baylor underclassman women's tennis player to be selected for the tournament, won the first set 6-2 against Alabama sophomore Robin Stephenson. Stephenson, ranked No. 28, rebounded to take the second set 7-6 by winning the tiebreaker 7-5. In the final set, Stephenson also won the tiebreaker on a controversial call. With the match tied at 6-6 and the tiebreaker at 8-7 in favor of Alabama, Walter called Stephenson's shot long but was overruled by the official which resulted in Stephenson's winning the match.

Walter, ranked No. 50, ends her successful rookie season with a 25-11 singles record. She was named All-Big 12 in both singles and doubles and was named the Region's Player to Watch.
