WACO, Texas - Baylor right-hander Mark McCormick was selected as a member of the West Division team for Saturday's 42nd-annual Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game, the league office announced Monday. McCormick is one of eight reserve pitchers on the West squad.
A rising junior at Baylor, McCormick has posted a 2-1 record this summer with a 0.93 ERA in the nation's premier wood-bat college summer league. In six starts, McCormick has posted 47 strikeouts against just 17 walks. The Houston, Texas, native has allowed only six runs, four earned, on 20 hits in 38.2 innings pitched. His one loss was a 3-1 defeat last Saturday in which he allowed two runs with nine strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
McCormick joins Jaime Bubela (1999), Zane Carlson (2002, 2003), David Murphy (2002) and Trey Webb (2002) as the fifth Baylor player to earn an all-star selection in the Cape Cod League.
First pitch for the mid-season all-star game is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. CDT at Eldredge Park in Orleans, Mass. Live streaming audio of the game can be accessed via Free Teamline at www.capecodbaseball.com.
