WACO, Texas - Baylor's women's tennis team, as it has every season under third-year head coach Joey Scrivano, will face an extremely tough 2004-2005 schedule. Of Baylor's 24 dual matches, 18 are against teams listed in the final 2004 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) national rankings and all but one of the squad's non-conference matches are against ranked teams.
In addition to a tough spring schedule the Bears will be extremely active during the fall. The team will host the Baylor Invitational on Sept. 17-19 and also participate in the Rice Invitational, the Fall Desert Classic, the ITA Southwest Regional and ITA All-American tournaments.
In the spring, six of Baylor's matches are against teams ranked in the ITA top 15 and eight are against top 25 teams. With no seniors on its roster, Baylor, ranked No. 45 in the final ITA Poll, finished the 2004 season at 13-11 overall and fourth place in the Big 12 with an 8-4 record.
"We are thrilled about the 2004-05 schedule and the opportunities it provides us to prove ourselves," Scrivano said. "We a playing a fantastic home schedule with top fifteen teams such as Clemson, Vanderbilt, Texas and Tulane coming to Waco. This schedule will definitely push us to be focused for every match," he added.
