Under bright and sunny skies, the Baylor football team completed a spirited two-hour and 15-minute workout Thursday in helmets and shoulder pads on the Floyd Casey Stadium grass fields. "It was give and take out there, and you like to see that," said second-year Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "I thought we looked much better (today) in the pass protection and the punt period when we were picking up blitzes. "We had a couple of mental busts, which you don't like to see, but from a physical standpoint today we made a little move today up front," he added. "We were in there battling pretty hard." Baylor is scheduled to practice from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, then hold its first double-session of fall camp on Saturday with workouts scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. On Saturday, the Bears will donn full pads for the first time and the afternoon workout will include some scrimmage-type work. Baylor Fall Camp Notes: A year ago, the BU football team began fall camp in temperatures well over 100 degrees and a heat index of 115, but the 2004 Bears have received a break in that regard this year ... "I believe we've got a few hot days ahead of us," said Morriss. "I think early it has been good, as the tempo and pace have been good and the kids have worked pretty well. Last summer the kids dragged quite a bit and you don't like to see that happen. There's going to be enough hot days that we'll get our conditioning in." ... Morriss said one of the challenges for his coaching staff during fall camp is the offensive line, where the staff is trying to find the right combination of players and put them in the right place to be successful ... Walk-on offensive lineman Austin Chambers (Abilene, Texas) has left the team, while another walk-on, fullback Eric Daniels (Rockwall, Texas) went through first practice of camp today ... Season tickets for the 2004 football campaign remain on sale through the Baylor Athletic Ticket Office ... The Bears' annual Fan Appreciation Day is set for Saturday, Aug. 21.
