WACO, Texas - With four days of double-sessions over the next seven days looming on the horizon for the Baylor football team, the Bears worked for more than two hours in half-pads Friday afternoon on the Floyd Casey Stadium grass fields. "We've got a lot of things taught (this week)," said Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "Other than the young guys, everyone is pretty much mistake-free assignment-wise. Now we have to get the technical things ironed out and start polishing as soon as we can. "It was a good practice today," he added. "The attitude and tempo were both good. We just have to keep progressing and improving every day as a team." Saturday the Bears are scheduled to practice twice for the first time this fall, working in half-pads at 9:15 a.m. and coming back in the afternoon for a 4 p.m. workout in full pads inside Floyd Casey Stadium. The second workout will include approximately 60 scrimmage plays, mostly in controlled situational situations, Morriss said. One BU player who won't participate in Saturday's practice sessions is senior defensive end Khari Long (Wichita Falls, Texas), who will be given the day off by Morriss to participate in BU's summer graduation ceremonies. Long will receive his communications degree, giving Baylor four student-athletes on its 2004 squad who will compete with degree in hand this fall. Other Bears who have already earned their degrees include senior fullback Jonathan Evans (Duncanville, Texas), senior linebacker Michael Tolbert (Austin, Texas) and junior wide receiver John Martin (Stillwater, Okla.). Following Saturday's double-session, the Bears will workout once on Sunday (8-15), then go twice on Monday (8-16), Wednesday (8-18) and Friday (8-20), with single workouts on Tuesday (8-17), Thursday (8-19) and Saturday (8-21).
