Baylor Softball Mourns Former Player

WACO, Texas - Former softball player Tori (Birk) Luke, passed away Friday from injuries suffered in a Central Texas car accident. Luke, 27, was one of Baylor's first recruits when the school reinstated the softball program in 1996. She was a four-year starter (1996-1999) for the Bears, three at shortstop and one at second base. Luke, who originally hailed from Oklahoma City, Okla., came to Baylor after graduating from Westmoore High School. A three-time Academic All-Big 12 selectee, Luke ranks among the top six in 15 categories in Baylor career statistics. Most notably she is listed at No. 2 in doubles (29) and assists (431) and No. 3 in games played and started (229), home runs (14) and total bases (129). Luke, a 1999 Baylor graduate, is survived by her husband Jon, a former Baylor football graduate assistant, and an infant son, Hunter. Funeral services will be held on Wed., Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City (8600 So. Pennsylvania Ave.). Visitation is at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuaries, 6934 South Western, Oklahoma City.
