Inside the Huddle with Justin Crooks - Sept. 13

No matter how ugly it is, it's always good to have a win. We played a Texas State team well enough to beat them, but not good enough to beat any better of a team. We have improved on our execution, effort and intensity somewhat since the UAB game the week before, but we still must get a lot better before we get North Texas into town, and then start conference down the road in Austin.
A bye week before North Texas gives us a little break from football for a week. We have a lot to improve on in the next couple of weeks before our next game, but we do have an extra week to get better. We are going to tighten down the bolts on all phases of the game, not so much physically but mentally, and we really need to focus on our task at hand all week, not only while we are over there at the stadium but when we are at home as well. Mental preparation will win us a lot of games this year if we do it right.
We are going to continue to fly around on defense, turn the field over on special teams and go right at the defense on offense. We continue to expect great things from this program and we will get there. We appreciate all of your support and for attending the game on Saturday. Come back again next week when we play North Texas and expect a good hard-nosed football game.
