WACO, Texas - Heading into the 2004 season, ten Baylor alums occupy roster spots for various NFL squads. Veterans Gary Baxter, Kelvin Garmon, Greg Jerman, Fred Miller and Derrius Thompson headline the list of Bears while 2002 graduate Reggie Newhouse is the newest alum to sign with a professional team.
Newhouse recently signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals after practicing on the Cardinals' practice squad the last five weeks of the 2003 season. During his tenure at Baylor, Newhouse set receiving records in receptions in a season(75) and reception in a career(183). He also ranks in the top five in touchdowns and total yardage.
Veteran Fred Miller starts his ninth season in the NFL. Miller played his first four years for the St. Louis Rams and was traded to the Titans in 2000. He has started every game since the 1998 season, a streak of 96 consecutive games.
