The Big 12 Conference has announced that Baylor's Oct. 9 home game against Missouri has been selected for a national telecast on Fox Sports Net with kick off set for 9 p.m. (Central) at Floyd Casey Stadium.
"We are excited about hosting a nationally televised game at Floyd Casey Stadium," said Baylor Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. "It will be a special evening and great exposure for our football program."
Two special promotions have already been set around the Baylor-Missouri football game. Baylor's annual student Battle of the Bands contest will be held beginning at 6 p.m. in the student tailgating zone at Floyd Casey Stadium. This event, featuring six student bands, is presented by Kappa Delta and The Place 2BU. Free prizes will be given to attendees and the winning band will be presented a $1,000 cash prize at halftime of the football game.
In addition to the Battle of the Bands contest, each Baylor football season ticket holder will be receiving via mail two additional tickets for the Missouri game as a thank you for their continued loyalty and support to the program, McCaw said.
The game-day corporate sponsor for the Missouri contest, Alltel, will also provide Baylor foam fingers to the first 5,000 fans through the Floyd Casey Stadium gates on Oct. 9.
"We are excited about the opportunity to play Missouri on television," said second-year coach Guy Morriss. "This will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the program we are building in Waco. This is another positive step forward for our program and we are grateful for the opportunity Fox Sports Net has provided us."
Baylor is 2-1 on the season heading into Saturday's game at 3-0 and No. 5 Texas. Missouri is also 2-1 on the year entering Saturday's home contest against Colorado. Other Big 12 Conference games scheduled for telecast on Oct. 9 are Oklahoma vs. Texas at 11 a.m. on ABC, Oklahoma State at Colorado at 2:30 p.m. on ABC and Nebraska at Texas Tech at 6 p.m. on TBS.
