Cross Country Dominates Bear Relays

WACO, Texas-The Baylor men's and women's cross country teams dominated the Bear Relays held tonight at the Baylor Intramural Fields. On the men's side, Baylor teams swept the top four places while the women raced to a first, second and third-place finish.
"It was great to get the season started," head coach Todd Harbour said. "I was really pleased with the way our men's and women's teams ran. Overall, I was impressed with the way we started our season."
Baylor runners Brittany Brockman and Monique Ortega captured the women's race, winning in a time of 27:57.00. The Bears' Brittany McGuire and Lyndsy Bedell followed close behind, finishing second with a time of 28:19.00. Jessi Barnes and Lauren Hagans completed the one-two-three Baylor sweep, as the duo finished third in a time of 28:49.00
The men faired just as well, as Baylor's Cody Wells and Rob Morrow captured the victory with a time of 36:43.00 over the 6-km course. Baylor's Mitch Sanders and Bo Price finished in second with a time of 37:07.00.
Running unattached, Baylor runners finished in third and fourth as well. Jason Baker and Jacob Jones finished third with a time of 37:59.00 as Joel Sartain and Luis Guittierez teamed to finished fourth in a time of 38:11.00.
