The Baylor football team returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon with a two-hour workout in shells on the grass practice fields at Floyd Casey Stadium. The Bears, 0-1 on the year after Saturday's 56-14 setback at UAB, open their 2004 home schedule against 1-0 Texas State on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. "It was a good practice today," said Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "It might have been the best Tuesday (practice) we've ever had. As coaches we have to make an effort to teach these guys how to practice and have fun doing it. You can't take that stuff for granted, so you have to work at it. "It is just a case of learning how to work during the week," he added. "It took us until our second year at Kentucky to learn how to practice on back-to-back days, hard, like I want us to practice. Hard work during the work will carry over into Saturday and make it easier on them." The Bears will return to work with another workout Wednesday afternoon. Practice Notes: Those missing Tuesday's workout included Julian Hill (shoulder), M.T. Robinson (knee), Tyler Lindstrom (broken hand), Glen Oskin (knee), Brandon Whitaker (knee), John Martin (neck), Paul Howard (hamstring), Chris Evans (sprained ankle) and Ben Hixson (sore hip) ... Baylor's scout team players of the week for the UAB game were linebacker Aaron Bobo, defensive back Alton Widemon and wide receiver Nate Cook ... Tickets for Saturday's 6 p.m. game against the Bobcats are on sale through the Baylor Athletic Ticket Office, over the phone at 1-800-Baylor-U or on the web at www.baylorbears.com.
