Coach Guy Morriss' Baylor football team continued its preparations for Saturday's home-opener against 1-0 Texas State with a two-hour workout in shells on the Floyd Casey Stadium grass practice fields Wednesday afternoon.
The 0-1 Bears were without a pair of offensive linemen for Wednesday's practice, as junior left tackle Quintin Outland and junior right tackle Evan Stone both missed practice due to illness. Both players are expected to return to work Thursday.
"We got a little thin in the offensive line today and I think the kids got a little tired toward the end, but they pushed through it pretty good," said Morriss. "Without Quintin (Outland) and Evan (Stone), the other guys in the o-line got a lot of reps today. Overall, it was a good practice.
"It's (Texas State) the only game we play this week and that's our goal, to go out and win each game we play every week," he added. "I think it (a win over Texas State) would help us from a confidence standpoint. We've just got to improve as a team each time we take the field. I want to see us execute better no matter who we play."
The Bears will return to work Thursday afternoon and hold a walk-through on Friday before hosting Texas State Saturday at 6 p.m. in Floyd Casey Stadium.
Practice Notes: Also missing Wednesday's workout were Julian Hill (shoulder), M.T. Robinson (knee), Tyler Lindstrom (broken hand), Glen Oskin (knee), Brandon Whitaker (knee), John Martin (neck), Paul Howard (hamstring), Chris Evans (sprained ankle) and Ben Hixson (sore hip) ...
